Elsa Rivera (salsa)

Samba is a lively, rhythmical dance that has been done in Brazil since its inception in the late 19th century. Considered one of the most popular Brazilian cultural expressions, samba has become an icon of Brazilian national identity, and it is the dance of celebration and joy at carnival celebrations in Rio.

For a $10 donation ($5 if you can’t afford), participants will get a $277 value health check-up at the beginning of the event. This includes blood pressure, weight, A1C test (3-month glucose average), glucose and access to certified diabetes educators.

Where: The African American Art & Culture Complex (762 Fulton Street, SF, CA 94102). Free parking.
